Correction, 2026-10-02: this page never said plainly that no video model on 8frame outputs 4K. None does: the highest output is 2K, on Hailuo H3 and Creatify Boreal (Boreal is now in the table, 81 credits for 5 seconds at 2K). The cheapest-1080p answer left out Creatify Boreal (21 credits) and Pruna p-video (27) and called Kling the pick "among established models"; it now names the Kling models as the cheapest 1080p we have measured on returned files. We removed claims we had not measured or sourced: that marketing rarely separates native from upscaled 4K, that only native 4K "contains 4K detail", that social platforms re-encode uploads, that phone screens hold fewer pixels than 4K, and that viewers dislike interpolated frame rates.
Correction, 2026-09-30: this page called base Wan 3.0 at 95 credits the cheapest route to 1080p. No video model on 8frame outputs 4K. The highest output is 2K, from Hailuo H3 (88 credits for 5 seconds) and Creatify Boreal (81 credits for 5 seconds at 2K), and there is no video upscaler on the canvas. So this page does two things: it shows where 4K exists outside 8frame, in each vendor's own words, and it shows how to choose a resolution on 8frame, where the file the model returns is the file you deliver.
There are two kinds of 4K in AI video. Native 4K means the model generated at that resolution. Upscaled 4K means it generated lower and something enlarged it afterwards, inferring the extra detail. Both produce a 3840x2160 file, so check which one a product means; some vendors say so on their own pages (see the table below).
On 8frame there is a hard constraint that makes this simple: there is no video upscaler on the canvas. The upscalers on 8frame (Topaz, Clarity, BRIA) work on images only. Whatever the video model outputs is what you deliver. That removes the repair option and makes the resolution setting the whole decision.

Read the Wan rows together. Base and Prime are both priced by resolution, and Prime costs about twice base at each one: 189 against 95 at 1080p. If you need 1080p on Wan, base at 95 is the cheaper of the two, but other models reach 1080p for less. Pruna p-video, Creatify Boreal and H3 Max Turbo are new to 8frame, so we quote their prices, not their quality. The default that costs four times more
Wan 3.0 base defaults to 1080p, which is also its most expensive tier. Submit without setting resolution and you pay 95 credits for 5 seconds rather than 24. That default exists so nothing under-bills, and it means the model you chose because it was cheap quietly bills four times what you expected.
Set resolution deliberately, every time.
Where 4K exists outside 8frame
These are the vendors' own descriptions, checked 2026-10-02. None of these 4K modes is available on 8frame.

Do you actually need 4K?
Usually not, and on 8frame the question is settled anyway, since nothing outputs above 2K. Before paying for 4K elsewhere, check the placement:
- Ad specs do not require 4K: Meta recommends 1440 x 2560 for Reels ads, and Amazon Sponsored Brands video accepts 1280 x 720 and 1920 x 1080 as well as 3840 x 2160.
Where 4K can matter: connected TV and broadcast delivery specs that ask for it, large-format display, anything that will be cropped or reframed in post (extra pixels give you room), and archival masters.
If you are not in one of those cases, 1080p is a sensible default, and 4K is spending for a number rather than for a result.
Since there is no repair step
This is the practical consequence of having no video upscaler on the canvas: the resolution decision happens before you generate, not after.
The workflow:
- Draft at 480p. Wan 3.0, 24 credits. Find the composition and the motion.
- Decide the delivery spec. What is this actually for, and what resolution does that placement require?
- Generate the keeper at that resolution. For 1080p: Kling 2.6 Pro silent at 47, Hailuo H3 Max Turbo at 54 or base Wan 3.0 at 95, or the tier that matches on another model. For 2K: Creatify Boreal at 81 or Hailuo H3 at 88 for 5 seconds.
- Do not plan to fix it. There is nothing on 8frame to fix it with.
Total for a shot that lands, with three drafts on Wan 3.0 at 480p and the keeper on base Wan 3.0 at 1080p: 72 + 95 = 167 credits, about $1.67. Finish on Kling 2.6 Pro silent instead and it is 72 + 47 = 119.
