Correction, 2026-09-29: the first version of this page said Grok Imagine video is silent and priced it at 54 credits (480p) and 95 (720p) for 5 seconds. Both were wrong for the model most people pick: Grok Imagine includes audio on every clip, and since 2026-09-21 it costs 34 at 480p and 48 at 720p. The older prices belong to Grok Imagine 1.5, which is still available.
Grok Imagine is one of the cheapest ways on 8frame to get a video clip that comes with sound: 34 credits for 5 seconds at 480p, 48 at 720p, audio always included. It also edits and extends existing clips and takes up to ten reference images. For stills, Grok Image 2.0 costs 9 credits.

Credits on 8frame, a credit is $0.01 at pack rate. Prices are for 5 seconds of output:

Editing is billed on the length of the input clip, and extending bills the new seconds plus the input, which is why those modes cost a little more than generating from scratch.
Per second of video, that is about 6.8 credits at 480p and 9.5 at 720p. For comparison, Veo 3.1 Lite with audio is 27 credits for 4 seconds, the same 6.75 per second as Grok at 480p: the cheapest sound among established models. Creatify Boreal, new to 8frame, is 1.35 credits a second with sound at 720p (7 for 5 seconds); we quote its price, not its quality. Base Wan 3.0 at 480p is 24 credits for 5 seconds, but it has no audio setting on 8frame.
What it is good for
Clips that need sound, cheaply. Ambience, a whoosh on a move, room tone: it arrives with the picture, so a draft already sounds like something.
A second interpretation. When a shot keeps coming back the same way from your default model, a different model family often reads the prompt differently. At 34 credits a try, that is a cheap test.
Changing or lengthening a clip you already have. Edit takes an existing clip of up to 15 seconds; extend adds 2 to 10 seconds to one.
Stills with a different house look. Grok Image 2.0 takes up to three input images, in 1K or 2K.
How to use it
- Open a canvas, add a generation node and pick Grok Imagine.
- Choose the mode by what you connect: nothing for text to video, one image for image to video, several images for reference, a clip for edit or extend.
- Set the resolution. 480p for drafts, 720p for the version you keep. There is no video upscaler on 8frame.
- Pick the shape. Text to video offers 16:9, 4:3, 3:2, 1:1, 2:3, 3:4 and 9:16; from an image, the output follows the image.
- Describe the sound in the prompt if it matters: "rain on a tin roof", "a door closes off camera".
When to use something else
You will replace the audio anyway. Grok charges for sound you cannot switch off; for a draft where sound does not matter, Wan 3.0 at 24 credits for 5 seconds at 480p is cheaper.
Dialogue that must land on a mouth. Test the line on Veo 3.1 as well: 168 credits for 8 seconds with audio on Veo 3.1 Fast (the Veo tool's default), 448 on Veo 3.1. Or record the line yourself and animate a still to it with Hailuo H3 Max Lip Sync, 54 credits for 5 seconds at 768p.
Clips longer than 15 seconds in one take. Wan 3.0 and Seedance 2.5 go to 30 seconds.
