How to Use Seedance 2.0 and 2.5: Access Options

Every way to access Seedance 2.0 and the newer 2.5, from ByteDance's own apps and CapCut to the 8frame canvas. Access routes, step-by-step, and per-clip cost.

By the end of this you'll know every legitimate way to run Seedance, which route fits which job, and what a 5-second clip actually costs. The short version: Seedance 2.0 is ByteDance's motion-and-product model, and you can reach it through ByteDance's own apps, through CapCut, or directly on the 8frame canvas alongside 15 other video models. The newer Seedance 2.5 is a separate question, and we'll be straight about where it currently lives.

Traditional product footage for a single UGC-style clip runs $150 to $600 once you count talent, a shoot slot, and an edit. Seedance clips generate for well under a dollar. The value is not just the price. It's that you can hold a real product recognizable through camera motion, which is the thing most video models still fumble.

What Seedance is

Seedance 2.0 is ByteDance's AI video model built around multi-reference image conditioning and physics-aware motion. You feed it a product reference and an environment reference plus a text prompt, and it treats both images as hard constraints through the whole clip, so a supplement bottle or a skincare tube stays visually accurate while the camera moves. For the full breakdown, see What is Seedance 2.0. Seedance 2.5, launched in early July 2026, is the follow-up: native 4K, longer 30-second outputs, and 3D pre-visualization. We cover the differences in Seedance 2.5 vs Seedance 2.0.

Official access routes

Seedance is a ByteDance model, so the first-party routes all run through ByteDance products.

Dreamina (international) and Jimeng (China). These are ByteDance's consumer creative apps and the most direct way to try the model. New accounts typically get trial credits, so you can test before paying. Dreamina is the international-facing brand; Jimeng is the mainland China app.

Doubao and Volcano Engine (Volcengine). Chinese users can reach Seedance through Doubao, ByteDance's assistant. For developers, Volcengine is the reference point for enterprise API access, with official Seedance API docs. Note that Volcengine access is oriented toward accounts inside China and carries the region and billing friction that comes with that.

CapCut. If you already edit in CapCut, Seedance is built into the editor. Go to Media, then AI Media, then AI Video, and pick the Dreamina Seedance model. Choose image-to-video or text-to-video, enter your prompt, and generate without leaving your timeline.

The honest read: these routes work, and if you live inside ByteDance's ecosystem they are convenient. The friction shows up when you want to compare Seedance against Veo, Kling, or Hailuo on the same brief, or when you want per-clip billing instead of an app subscription and regional account setup.

How to use Seedance 2.0 on the 8frame canvas

On 8frame, Seedance 2.0 sits on the same canvas as every other model, and you pay per generation rather than per subscription. Here is the workflow we use for a product clip.

  1. Upload your references. Drop two images onto the canvas: a clean product shot (front label, plain background) and an environment or talent shot (the counter, desk, or setting the product will live in). Multi-reference conditioning is the whole reason to reach for Seedance, so give it both.

  2. Pick Seedance 2.0 and connect the references. Add a Seedance node and wire both reference images into it. The model encodes each reference into its latent space alongside your prompt, so it can't drift the label shape or color mid-clip.

  3. Write a motion-forward prompt. Seedance rewards prompts that describe camera and physics, not just the subject. Example: "Person picks up the bottle from the marble counter, turns it toward camera, handheld iPhone movement, warm morning light, 9:16, authentic." For copy-paste structures, see Seedance 2.0 prompts for UGC ads and Seedance 2.0 prompts for product demos.

  4. Generate, review, and chain. A 5-second 1080p clip takes roughly 2 minutes. Review it on the canvas, and if it lands, chain a Topaz upscale node to push it to 4K for delivery. If the product drifted, swap in a cleaner reference rather than rewriting the prompt.

Per-clip cost on 8frame is $0.45 at standard quality and $0.65 at high quality, 1080p native. No account setup in a specific region, no monthly minimum.

Where Seedance 2.5 fits

Seedance 2.5 is real and worth knowing about, but be clear-eyed about access. As of late July 2026 the first-party routes are ByteDance's own apps, Dreamina internationally and Jimeng in China, with Doubao and Volcengine for Chinese and developer access, and CapCut integration rolling out shortly after launch. That is where you go today for native 4K, 30-second outputs, and the 3D pre-viz features.

8frame hosts Seedance 2.0. If your job needs Seedance 2.0's multi-reference product locking with fast side-by-side model comparison and per-clip pricing, the canvas is the faster path. If you specifically need 2.5's longer 4K outputs right now, use Dreamina or CapCut. We do not claim 2.5 on the canvas, and you should not trust any source that quietly does.

Official vs canvas: which to pick

Your situation Best route
You want Seedance 2.5's native 4K / 30s today Dreamina or CapCut (first-party)
You edit in CapCut and want it in-timeline CapCut integration
You're a developer inside China Volcengine API
You want to compare Seedance vs Veo/Kling on one brief 8frame canvas
You want per-clip billing, no subscription 8frame canvas
You need multi-reference product locking + upscale chain 8frame canvas (Seedance 2.0)

Cost math

A quick worked example. Say you need five product UGC variants for a supplement launch, each 5 seconds.

The math is not close. Where the official ByteDance routes earn their keep is the newest 2.5 feature set; where the canvas earns its keep is testing Seedance against the rest of the field before you commit credits.

FAQ

Is Seedance free to use?

ByteDance's apps (Dreamina, Jimeng) typically give new accounts trial credits, so you can test Seedance without paying up front, then you buy credits to continue. On 8frame you pay per clip, $0.45 to $0.65 for Seedance 2.0 at 1080p, with no subscription. There is no permanent free unlimited tier for Seedance itself.

What is the difference between Seedance 2.0 and 2.5?

Seedance 2.0 focuses on multi-reference conditioning and physics-aware motion at 1080p. Seedance 2.5, launched early July 2026, adds native 4K, longer 30-second outputs, and 3D pre-visualization. 8frame hosts 2.0; 2.5 is currently accessed through ByteDance's own apps and CapCut.

Can I use Seedance for commercial ads?

Yes. Seedance output can be used commercially under the model's licensing terms, and 8frame's paid tier permits commercial use of what you generate. As with any model, check the current model card terms before shipping a paid client deliverable.

Do I need a Chinese account to use Seedance?

Not through 8frame or Dreamina's international app. Volcengine's enterprise API and the Jimeng app are oriented toward accounts inside China. If you're outside China, the friction-free routes are Dreamina, CapCut, or the 8frame canvas.
