Correction, 2026-10-02: this page compared one 8frame Starter account with five pooled Miro seats without saying that 8frame credits are per user rather than a team pool, or that inviting collaborators on 8frame needs the Creator or Agency plan; both are now stated. It did not disclose that 8frame is our product; it does now. It said 8frame has no "board summaries", which is not in our verified feature list; the accurate list is no sticky notes, votes, timers or diagram shapes. Two lines stated opinions as fact (that Miro's metering "assumes occasional use", and that whiteboard AI is "the wrong shape no matter how many credits you add"); they are replaced with the per-seat arithmetic and plain advice. We also added that Miro's plan comparison calls the Free plan's AI a "Limited trial", next to the 10 and 25 credits its two pages give, and that Miro says per-action costs can change.
Correction, 2026-10-01: the first version of this page said Miro sells an unlimited AI add-on at $7 per member per month, that one credit generally covers one AI action, that credits are counted per member, and that Enterprise includes up to 100 credits per member. Miro's pricing page and help center, checked today, show none of that: there is no $7 unlimited add-on on the pricing page, credits are pooled across the team, actions cost 0 to 5 credits each (an image is 3), extra credits come in bundles whose price is not published, and Enterprise starts from 2,500 credits a month. The team-cost table below is rebuilt from the current figures.
Miro AI credits are a monthly allowance for Miro's AI features. Starter includes 25 credits per member a month ($8 per member a month, billed yearly) and Business 50 per member ($20 per member a month, billed yearly); Enterprise starts from 2,500 credits a month and scales with seats. The allowance is pooled: Miro's pricing page says credits are pooled across your organization, and its help center says everyone on the team draws from one balance. Actions cost different amounts (an image is 3 credits, a diagram 5, a slide 5), credits reset monthly and do not roll over, and extra credits are sold in bundles. The free plan's number depends on which Miro page you read, and we are not going to pick one for Miro: the pricing page FAQ says 10 credits a month, the plan comparison on the same page says "Limited trial", and the help center table says 25. What a Miro AI credit actually buys
Miro publishes a fixed cost for most AI actions:

Three details matter for budgeting. Sidekicks and other prompt-based flows vary with the complexity of the request, the context you give and the model used, and Miro says it cannot show the cost of a prompt before you run it. Credits are spent when a result is generated, not when you keep it: every regeneration spends again, and undoing a result does not refund it. And Miro says credit consumption can change over time, as the models behind its features and its own costs change.
The important calibration: this is whiteboard AI. The features are built around the board (a diagram, a doc, a slide, an image to fill a frame), and the allowances are sized in tens of credits per seat. At 3 credits an image, Business's 50 credits per member is about 16 images per member a month if the team spends them on nothing else, and Starter's 25 is about 8.
The monthly math, by team size
Where the meter starts to bite is teams that generate images as part of real work. Prices below are Miro's billed-yearly rates; Miro says annual billing saves 20% over monthly.

Two structural quirks to notice. First, the allowance is calculated per seat but spent from one pool, so one heavy AI user can use up the team's month. Second, credits expire monthly (on the renewal date for Starter and Business, on the first of the month for Free and Enterprise), so a quiet month is spend with no output. When the pool runs out, AI actions pause until it refreshes. Billing and company admins on Starter and Business can buy extra bundles (Miro's examples are 100 or 200 credits) in the admin console; the price is not on the public pricing page, and purchased bundles also reset monthly.
What the same money buys outside Miro
If the reason you care about AI credits is generating actual creative (images and video you would put in an ad, a deck, or a feed), the comparison stops being one Miro plan versus another and becomes whiteboard AI versus production models.
For scale, on 8frame (disclosure: 8frame is our product): $19/month buys 1,000 credits that roll over while you stay subscribed. An image costs 6 credits on Seedream 5 Lite or 21 on Nano Banana Pro (at 1K or 2K; 42 at 4K), and a 5-second Kling v3 Standard clip with audio, made from a start image, is 86. So the $19 Starter plan covers 166 Seedream 5 Lite images or 47 Nano Banana Pro images, where five Miro Starter seats ($40 a month billed yearly) pool 125 AI credits, about 41 images.
Read that comparison for what it is: those 1,000 credits belong to one person. 8frame credits are per user, not a team pool; each generation is charged to the person who runs it, on their own plan. Inviting collaborators to a board needs the Creator plan ($49/month, up to 3 members) or Agency ($499/month, up to 30). Starter cannot invite anyone, invited collaborators need their own 8frame account, and there is no public share link. The 8frame roster includes Veo 3.1, Kling v3, Seedance 2.5, FLUX and more. The catch runs the other way too: 8frame has no sticky notes, votes, timers or diagram shapes. It is not a whiteboard with AI; it is an AI canvas where generation is the product.
Which one you need depends entirely on what the output is. Meeting artifacts and diagrams: that is what Miro AI is built for, and the free allowance may cover light use. Production creative: compare the cost per image and the models on offer before you buy more Miro credit bundles.
