Correction, 2026-10-02: we re-audited this page against the 8frame tool registry and Meta's English ads guide. It called each model the "best" for a use case and said Seedance "holds" a product's shape and branding; we have measured neither, so each pick now rests on something you can check (price, resolution, inputs, length). It quoted prices the tools don't open on: the Kling tool starts on v3 Standard with sound on (86 credits for 5 seconds; 57 is silent), the Veo tool on Veo 3.1 Fast (168 for 8 seconds; 448 is Standard) and the Seedance tool on Seedance 2.5 (157 for 5 seconds at 720p; 108 is Seedance 2.0). It gave Kling's resolution as "not set": Kling v3 Standard returns 720p and Kling 2.6 Pro 1080p. Its test prompt was text only, which Kling v3 can't take. And the example drop left out the start stills Kling v3 needs: 992 credits, not 904. We also added Meta's notes that sound is "strongly recommended" and licensed music is not allowed in Reels ads, and Meta's Instagram feed video spec (9:16, 1080 x 1920).
Correction, 2026-10-01: an earlier version said Kling v3 Standard makes 16:9, 9:16 or 1:1 from text. On 8frame, Kling v3 needs a start image and follows its shape, so a vertical Kling v3 Reel starts from a 9:16 still; from text alone, the Kling model is Kling 2.6 Pro (47 credits for 5 silent seconds, 95 with audio).
For Instagram Reels in 2026, choose the model by the clip's job; none of the pairings below comes from a measured quality test. For batches of variants, Kling v3 Standard animates a 9:16 still you choose: 86 credits for 5 seconds with sound, which is how the Kling tool opens, or 57 silent. For a hero clip with sound made in the same pass, Veo 3.1: 168 credits for 8 seconds on Veo 3.1 Fast, the setting the Veo tool opens on, or 448 on Standard. For 2K and camera moves, Hailuo H3 (88 for 5 seconds). For a real product, Seedance with up to 9 reference images (108 for 5 seconds at 720p on Seedance 2.0). For cheap b-roll, Wan 3.0 (48 for 5 seconds at 720p). All five can deliver 9:16; Kling v3 does it by starting from a 9:16 still.
Correction, 2026-09-30: the first version of this page described a test run with results and generation times we cannot reproduce, listed Kling v3 at native 4K and Veo 3.1 at 4K 60fps (video on 8frame tops out at 1080p, 2K on Hailuo H3 and Creatify Boreal), gave Hailuo H3 and Seedance 2.0 as 1080p (2K and 480p/720p), put a Veo hero plus eight Kling variants at about 800 credits, gave Instagram safe zones in pixels we can't source, and pointed to a Reels workflow template that doesn't exist. Meta's published specs and registry prices replace them.

What Reels asks for
Reels is 9:16, so generate vertical natively; a cropped landscape clip loses the subject or letterboxes. If aspect ratios are fuzzy, what is aspect ratio covers it.
Meta's specs for Reels ads: 9:16, MP4 or MOV, up to 4 GB, up to 15 minutes, recommended resolution 1440 x 2560. Video on 8frame tops out at 1080p (1080 x 1920 in 9:16), or 2K on Hailuo H3 and Creatify Boreal. Meta also asks you to keep at least 14% of the frame at the top, 35% at the bottom and 6% on each side free of text, logos and key elements; on a 1080 x 1920 frame that's about 269 pixels at the top and 672 at the bottom. Compose the subject in the middle band, and prompt for it ("subject centered in the frame, empty space above and below"). The full spec is in Instagram Reels ad specs.
Two more lines on Meta's Reels page bear on model choice. Sound is "optional, but strongly recommended", so if the clip carries its own sound, use a model that generates it with the picture (Veo 3.1, Kling v3 with sound on, Seedance). And Reels ads should not contain licensed music: Meta points to original audio or royalty-free tracks from its Sound Collection, so a trending song that suits an organic Reel can't go into the ad version. For Instagram feed video, Meta's English ads guide also recommends 9:16, at 1080 x 1920, so the same vertical clip can run there.
Not every clip in a drop needs the same budget: put the higher-priced model on the one clip that anchors the campaign, and the cheaper ones on variants and cutaways.
The prompt to test
Run one brief on the models you're choosing between, all 9:16 and the same length (8 seconds is a length all five offer):

Kling v3 needs a start image, so for Kling first make a 9:16 still from the same brief (Nano Banana 2 is 11 credits at 1K) and animate that. The other four take the text as it is.
What to check: steam that curls rather than smears, a hand that grips the mug cleanly, window light that wraps the mug, linen texture that holds, and whether the mug stays in the middle band clear of Instagram's interface.
The five
1. Kling v3 (variants)
Kling v3 Standard runs 3 to 15 seconds and on 8frame animates a start image, keeping its shape, so start from a 9:16 still. The Kling tool opens on v3 Standard with sound on, 86 credits for 5 seconds; with sound off it's 57. Its files come back at 720p (720 x 1280 in 9:16). Because every variant starts from a still you choose, the opening frame stays fixed while the motion and the prompt change. 2. Veo 3.1 (the hero)
Veo 3.1 generates sound with the picture, in 4, 6 or 8 seconds at 1080p, 16:9 or 9:16; from a start image it always makes 8 seconds. The Veo tool opens on Veo 3.1 Fast: 168 credits for 8 seconds with audio. Veo 3.1 Standard is 448 for 8 seconds with audio, 224 silent; Lite is 54 at 720p for drafts. Use it for the clip you pin to the profile or anchor a campaign with, and surround it with Kling variants.
3. Hailuo H3 (2K and camera moves)
Hailuo H3 outputs 2K, 5 to 15 seconds, 88 credits for 5 seconds. From text it offers six shapes including 9:16; from a start image it follows the image. The vertical H3 files we measured are 1456 x 2544, close to Meta's recommended 1440 x 2560. For a Reel built on a slow push-in, an orbit or a rack focus, write the move into the prompt and check it; to move the camera around a still you already have, H3 Max Camera Controls is 34 credits for 5 seconds at 480p (54 at 768p, 108 at 1080p). 4. Seedance (product references)
Seedance takes up to 9 reference images, so you can attach photos of the real product (front, side, label) instead of describing it. Whether the label and the shape survive the motion depends on the shot, so check them frame by frame before the clip ships. The Seedance tool opens on Seedance 2.5: 157 credits for 5 seconds at 720p (70 at 480p), up to 30 seconds. Seedance 2.0 runs 4 to 15 seconds: 48 credits for 5 seconds at 480p, 108 at 720p, the same with or without reference images. Both stop at 720p, and the price is the same with sound. Reference images replace the start and end frames, so use one or the other. 5. Wan 3.0 (budget b-roll)
For cutaways under a voiceover, a music track or a text overlay, Wan 3.0 is 24, 48 or 95 credits for 5 seconds at 480p, 720p or 1080p, and runs 2 to 30 seconds in one take. One example drop: a Veo 3.1 Standard hero with audio (448), eight silent Kling v3 variants (8 x 57 = 456) and a Nano Banana 2 start still at 1K for each variant (8 x 11 = 88) is 992 credits, just under the $19 Starter plan's 1,000. With the hero on Veo 3.1 Fast, where the Veo tool opens (168), it's 712. Leave Kling's sound on, as the tool opens, and the eight variants cost 688 instead of 456: 1,224 with the Standard hero, 944 with Fast. If one still serves all eight variants, the stills cost 11 instead of 88.
