Smart Edit runs only through 8frame's MCP connector, from an AI assistant; on the canvas, room edits go through Flux Edit or Kontext Max. It also sent furniture removal to background removal (which removes the background, not objects), listed Imagen 4 Ultra although we cannot confirm it currently works on 8frame, mentioned a strength setting the edit nodes do not have, and priced every edit at 7 credits, which holds only for a photo of about 1 megapixel.
AI interior visualisation produces beautiful rooms that cannot be built. The proportions drift, the lighting does not come from anywhere, the furniture does not exist, and the dimensions are whatever looked good. As a mood exercise that is fine. As a plan it is a problem, because someone may try to execute it.
The useful version starts from a photograph of your actual room.

Photograph first, then edit
Generating a room from a text description gives you a room that is not yours. Editing a photograph of your actual room starts from the real architecture, window positions, ceiling height and proportions, and asks the model to change only the things that can change. Check that it did: edits can still move a wall or resize a window.
The workflow:
- Photograph the room, wide, from a corner, in daylight, straight and level.
- Resize the photo to about 1 MP (1024 x 1024 or similar). Flux Edit bills the input's megapixels plus the output's: 7 credits at 1 MP, 36 for a 4032 x 3024 phone photo.
- Edit from that image with a prompt describing the change and what must stay ("keep the walls, windows and floor exactly as they are"). There is no strength slider on 8frame; the prompt sets how much changes.
- Iterate on the result, not the original, so changes accumulate.
- Take the direction to real products with real dimensions.
Twenty variations at 7 credits is 140 credits, about $1.40, and every one starts from your room.
What it gets wrong
Dimensions. A generated sofa is whatever size looked balanced. It will not correspond to anything you can buy, and "it looked right in the visual" is how people end up with furniture that does not fit.
Structural reality. Walls move, windows change size, doors relocate, radiators and sockets disappear. Anything requiring building work is being invented.
Light physics. Generated interiors frequently have light with no source, shadows in inconsistent directions, and a brightness that no real room achieves. This is a large part of why they look better than reality.
Furniture that exists. The chair in the image is not for sale anywhere.
Scale relationships. Ceiling heights drift, doorways come out wrong, and the room reads as larger than it is.

What it is genuinely good for
Deciding direction. Whether you want warm or cool, minimal or layered, before you commit money.
Colour on your actual walls. Editing a photo of your room with a different wall colour is a legitimate use and more informative than a paint chip alone. Check the final choice against a real sample in your own light, because the edit can shift the colour.
Showing a partner or client an idea. Communicating a feel faster than words.
Furniture placement exploration, with the caveat that the sizes are approximate.
Before-and-after presentation for a designer pitching a direction, clearly labelled as a visualisation.
For professionals
If you present generated visualisations to clients, label them. A client who sees a photorealistic image assumes it is achievable, and the gap between the visualisation and what a contractor can build at that budget is a difficult conversation you can avoid by framing it correctly up front.
The honest framing: "this is the feeling we are going for" rather than "this is what it will look like."
Real CAD and visualisation software exists precisely because dimensional accuracy matters in this field. Generation is a mood tool that sits before that, not a replacement for it.
The rental and listing rule
Do not use generated interiors in property listings. Showing a prospective tenant or buyer a room that does not exist is a misrepresentation. If you stage virtually, say so, and check the rules of your market and listing platform.
