Coming soon on 8frame. Documents on the board, brands as nodes and AI agents that read the same material as the team are not released yet. The shared canvas itself is live. This page covers why AI context ends up in private chats, what context an AI needs for creative work, how to gather it on one 8frame board today, and what the upcoming features will add. No date is announced.
Your team already works with AI. Just not together. Microsoft's 2024 Work Trend Index found that 75% of knowledge workers use AI at work, and that 78% of AI users bring their own AI tools to work. In a creative team that usually means one person's chat holds the brief, another's holds the references, and a third person's has the client's latest notes. Each AI sees a different slice of the job, and the results reflect it.
Why AI context splits
- Chats are personal by default. A conversation belongs to whoever started it. Colleagues see the output, not the instructions.
- Context is re-typed, not shared. Each person pastes their own summary of the brief, and the summaries drift.
- References travel as attachments. The same moodboard image is uploaded to four tools, and the fifth person never gets it.
- Decisions stay in meetings. "Golden hour, nothing staged" is agreed out loud and never reaches the prompt.
The fix is not a better prompt. It is one place where the brief, the references, the decisions and the AI work all sit, visible to everyone, people and AI alike.
What context an AI needs for creative work
| Context | Example | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| The brief | Audience, the one message, mandatory elements | Without it, every output is generic |
| References | Product shots, a location, a face | Models follow what they are shown |
| Brand | Palette, logo, words to avoid | Keeps every version on brand |
| Decisions so far | "Direction 3 picked", "Instagram first, then 16:9" | Stops the AI reopening settled questions |
| Constraints | Formats, deadlines, budget per stage | Shapes what is worth generating |
If you are writing the brief itself, see how to brief a creative team; the same brief, kept short, is what an AI needs.
Gathering the context on one board today
The 8frame canvas is a shared board: collaborators work on it in real time with live cursors, and comments sit on the work. Here is how to make it the single source of context now:
- Upload the references once. Images (PNG, JPG/JPEG, WebP, GIF, AVIF, BMP, up to 50 MB), video (MP4, WebM, MOV) and audio (MP3, WAV). Everyone wires the same files into their nodes instead of uploading their own copies.
- Put the brief on the board as a comment. The canvas does not take documents yet, so put the short version (audience, message, mandatory elements, formats) in a comment where everyone sees it.
- Record decisions where they were made. A comment beside the picked direction: what was decided, by whom.
- Keep each prompt next to its result. A colleague can read exactly what the model was told, and try a variation beside it.
- Invite the people who decide. Collaboration needs a Creator plan (up to 3 members) or an Agency plan (up to 30). Each person's generations are charged to their own plan; credits are not pooled.
Cheap stills keep the shared exploration affordable: Nano Banana 2, the node's default, is 11 credits per image at 1K; Nano Banana Pro is 21 at 1K or 2K.
If part of your team works inside an AI assistant, the 8frame MCP connector at mcp.8frame.co lets that assistant start generations on 8frame. Its results come back as file links rather than onto a board, so bring the keepers onto the board yourself.
What is coming: AI that reads the board
The upcoming features will let AI work from the same board the team uses.
Documents on the board
You will be able to place documents on the board, such as the PDF brief or a CSV shot list. They will connect to text nodes and agents, never straight into an image or video prompt. See reading briefs and documents with text models on the canvas.
Brands as nodes
A brand will be a node with a palette, logos, approved imagery, voice and a never-say list, plus an optional guidelines document. Wiring it into a generator, a text node or an agent will pass the brand along. See brand kits for AI image and video generation.
Agents that read what the team reads
An agent will be a node you name and brief, and a teammate you @ in the board chat. It will read only what is wired into it: the brief, the brand, a selection of nodes, another agent's results. Its node will list what it reads, so everyone can see its context. Its replies will come back into the chat under its name, and its work will land on the board in its own frame. Anything that spends credits will wait behind an approval card. See AI agents as teammates on a creative canvas.
One catalog for all of it
Brands, agents, apps and your saved items will be added from the same «+» catalog, right-click menu and Library, so the context you build on one board can be placed on the next. See one library for a team's AI assets.

FAQ
Can AI on 8frame read my brief today?
Not from a document on the board yet; that is coming soon with text nodes and agents. Today, put the short version of the brief in a comment and write it into prompts.
How do I stop each person briefing AI differently?
Keep one short brief, one reference set and the decisions on one shared board, and have everyone wire the same files into their nodes.
Will agents see everything on the board?
No. An agent is designed to read only what is wired into it, and to show that list on its node.
Who pays when several people generate on one board?
Each person pays for their own generations, on their own plan. Credits are not pooled across a team.
Is there a release date?
No date is announced. This page will be updated when the features are live.
